I want to know if this will give me any added protection or gain
for drag racing.

I don't under stand why you would use that. You only need what is specified from GM..and thats 5w30. You will not have the proper oil flow.

The owners maunal states not using heavy oils like that.

The tolrences are 10x tighter than cars 30 yrs ago. I don't even know why they make oil like that now.

No, I wouldnt use it. No your not going to get any added protection. Probably would ruin the engine before better protection.

My .02 ofcourse.

Yup you'd ruin the engine because it would starve for oil on startup.
