Default Winter Storage

Almost time to park the hugger for the winter , here in Manitoba Canada . I was told that if I add about a gallon of c4 racing gas that it will keep the fuel fresh until spring ?

Race gas does last a lot longer than pump gas, but I never heard of adding it as a stabilizer. Plus, it may have lead in it so be careful. I just add Stabil to a full tank and never had an issue.

Here's another vote for Sta-Bil. Fantastic stuff that has always performed as advertised. I always use this stuff in my power equipment and when I use it in a vehicle, I run the car long enough to get that mixture all the way through the system and injectors before parking it.

How much would you guys say an F-Body's lines, fuel rail holds? Or do you guys have regulator/return on rail(in which case you'd only need to burn about half a gallon to be safe)?

Add stabilizer, let run for ten minutes, disconnect battery, wait for summer

Skip the gallon of race gas and instead go with Stabil.

I use Stabil all year in my garage queens, as they sometimes only see 1-2 tanks of gas per year and it's always E10 fuel since that's all we have around here. I've been doing this for well over a decade, and had no fuel system issues with my FI or carb'ed engines. Works great.

I use seafoam for my stabilizer and make sure your tank is full of gas.

If you have ethanol free gas available to you start using it now. If you can get all of that ethanol out of the tank you wont even need Sta-bil. I just fill the tires to about 5 psi over normal and fill the gas tanks and call it good for the winter, once or twice over the winter I'll put a trickle charger on each car for a few days to keep the charge from getting to low and thats it no other prep. In the spring all I have to do is check the tire pressure and start driving.

My winter checklist is:
clean it, make sure tank is full, air up tires, disconnect battery.

Fill the tank and park it. Its a fuel injected car, ive seen a couple cars sit for over 7 years toss in a new battery and start and run just fine. stabil is a must for carb engines but i dont worry too much with fi motors. I just make sure the tank is full and add heat to it for any moisture. If you do use stabil make sure you get the kind for ethanol fuels. just my .02

Do not add Heat to it. Heat is just alcohol and will degrade just like ethanol, use Sta-bil if you have E10 gas, just park it with a full tank if you don't.

Stabil is specifically meant for ethanol fuels in the first place, it's purpose is the same whether the engine is carb'ed or fuel injected.

if stabil is made for ethanol why do they make a version that is meant for ethanol? Stabil came out before ethanol was used in fuels. They now market a version that is for marine/ethanol use.

I use the heat to displace any build up of moisture from running ethanol fuel. Once the tank is filled and heat added it helps to displace moisture buildup, has never caused me any issues. Then again i do try and start my cars once a month during the winter and let them run for about 5-10 minutes just to keep everything moving.

Some say just starting a car in the winter and letting it idle is worse then letting it sit. The theory is that if you cannot drive it and get it up to proper operating temps your better off letting it sit.

I just let mine sit. I pull the battery and take it indoors out of the cold, give it an oil change, and add stabil to the tank.
