I've had my 00 TransAm for about 6 months now. Previous owner had an auto-start system that was non-functional & partially removed when I got the car. I removed the remainder of the wires & luckily they did a decent job installing it & didn't molest the stock wiring.

So everything is functional on the car EXCEPT the security system. I got a GM key fob & the keyless entry works as does the panic button. I went through the shop manual for what I could with testing the BCM & security system, but that didn't solve anything.

All my keys are aftermarket - I don't have originals with the chip installed for the security system. Is this what is missing from making my system work or can it work without the original keys?

Not a huge deal, but if I can make the system work easily, I will....just because of my OCD

I posted some stuff about VATS at the end of the following thread..it describes the resistor in the GM keys and options for disabling. Worked backwards, you may be able to re-enable it.
