Default Intake ?

As I have been looking around for parts, I ran across a posting that said the following. Want to by LS1 intakes. "NOT 1998". So what is the scoop? Why would he not want 1998?

No idea. There is no difference specifically with the intake from '98-'00. Only the '01+ received a different (LS6) intake.

Now on the other hand, the C5 LS1 intake is in fact different from the F-body LS1 intake. C5s didn't have an EGR, even prior to the LS6 intake in 2001, so a C5 LS1 intake has no EGR port. But this is true for all years of C5 LS1, so again there is nothing specific about 1998.

Perhaps he's confusing this difference between the C5 and F-body LS1 intakes as having something to do with model year.

^^^No thats another 98-00 thing. OP if you have a intake to sell just lie and say it's off a 99, with some parts that would make you a dirt bag @$$ hole but in this case there is no difference in the part so whats the harm.

Fry above is correct, this situation isn't specific to '98s at all, it's the same from '98-'00. Also the title of that linked thread is wrong, as there was no LS6 intake available on any 2000 model year LS1.

A '98 LS1 intake is the same as a '99 or '00. Only difference is C5 (no EGR) vs F-body (EGR). They are otherwise interchangeable from year to year.
