Programming '99 LS1
I bought a '99 TA recently that's equipped with 4.11 gears (not sure what is better or worse about 4.11 gears compared to the regular gear ratio) and Z06 wheels. Well of course the Speedometer and Odometer are off and every time i go 1.0 mile it thinks I'm driving 1.2 miles. I'm wanted to buy a programmer, a hypertech either 390752 or a 30025 (unlocked of course) but before I go dropping a couple hundred dollars, I wanted to make sure I am capable of using it.
Is it difficult to program a '99 Trans Am? I'm not even sure where the programmer hooks up at and I just want to make sure I'm not getting over my head before I spend the money. I am sure there is a forum about this somewhere but I can't find it for the life of me! Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

you can do basic programming with the hypertech on one car at a time only. if you want to program another car you must return the first car back to stock settings. the tuner plugs into your OBII port and is very easy to use. i would buy a used unlocked programmer, good luck.

4.10s',is the car a M6 or A4 ?
I used a Hypertech handheld to program my 3.23 A4 car when I put in 4.56s'.
the 4.56s' caused the speedo to indicate about 85mph at 60mph,25mph higher. reprogrammed the 4.56s' in,and that 85 changed to 66(should have been 60). the hypertech improved the situation but did not fully correct it.

Basically, the 410 gears will make your car quicker in the 1/4 mile. You can have (2) 100% identical cars with the only difference being 1 car has stock gears and the other doesn't, and the car with gears will be about a 1/2 second quicker in the 1/4 mile. These are just bogus numbers, but I think that's the best way to explain the difference in gears.
