Default Help with vibration...

Just got a 2001 camaro ss 38k original miles. And have a slight vibration only when in neutral and rev the engine between 1k-2k rpm. It doesn't matter if the clutch is engaged or not....but I can feel it through the steering wheel. No codes or check engine lights.

So far I have done the following:
All new fluids
Fuel filter
Cleaned out the injectors/throttle body
New belts

It's not misfiring as I hooked it up to a tech2 and watched all cylinders for it.
Pulleys seem fine when I inspected them while changing the belts
The harmonic balancer seems ok when watching it while keeping the engine in the rpm range.

I visually looked at the motor and trans mounts and they seem ok with no visible cracking but can't power brake the engine to check for movement since its a 6speed.

any advice?

Did you look at the motor mounts?

Not that I specifically know of. IMO, MAF cleaning is a regular maintenance item, stock or aftermarket. ESPECIALLY with an K&N-type filter(that takes oil). The oil collects on the MAF element(the little wires inside the tube) and causes all kinds of funny business. They collect very fine dust over time even with a regular paper filter it seems.

A friend's M6 Formula has that. We took it to my buddy's shop and did every scan and test possible and couldn't find anything. We finally decided it had to do with rotating assembly balance and he just decided to live with it. Moral of the story: you may not be able to diagnose it and might have to do the same.

There could be a custom tune in there with some funky data in that RPM range. Long shot but you never know.

Have you tried pulling the battery cable for an hour and letting the computer re-learn?

I'll try that tonight, I was thinking about it but was questioning if it would help. i just want to rule out anything that could be serious.

If it is in that RPM range only, unlikely that it is something serious. Likely though that it is something that will cause you to pull a serious amount of hair out before you figure it out.

Most "serious" issues would get far worse past 2K RPM IMO.

Good luck!
