I have a question about my 2000 Trans Am WS6. My power steering went out I think. The steering is stiff and hard to turn. When I am driving it at leaat 30 MPH, the steering is fine when I turn. I just hear a winning noise. Any help? I don't know what to do and what this is? Firestone said it was my rack and pinion. Is this true?

When my power steering pump went out I also had a whining noise when turning the corner. You can always get a second opinion if you want to double check the Firestone shop.
