Hmm.... sorry gotta call on this guy.

I was at a dyno day last month with local Mustang club. Mostly good guys except for one kid with a 01 Bullit w/ Vortech and a fellow with an 02 w/ Kenne belle.

Both were talking **** about how much they'd put down and well to make a long story short I put down more than them.

The 2v GT's just don't respond that well to mods... now the Cobras...... we all know about them.

I agree with you for the most part. It just depends on the mods.

Here's a few 2v's courtesy of Livernois Motorsports (sponsor)

This one goes 10.1 @ 131mph.

Hey man I wasn't trying to flame. I know that if you are knowledgable enough and put the right mods that 2v's are fast.... but compared to say an LS1 or an 4v cobra motor (btw what's the correct name for them?) It's harder to squeeze performance out of them ya know??

I was just playing around 1BADFNZ. I know that 2v's suck. Those two I posted are FULLY built 2v's with lots of boost.

btw what's the correct name for them?
It's easiest just to refer to them as a '03 Cobra motor since other cars had the 4v DOHC motor sans the blower and forded internals.

Talking

It's all good man I just try not to presume that I know everything cause there's always someone out there who know more..

btw.... what's
forded internals
??? LOL

I was just wondering if Ford had a build code like GM's LS1, LT1 etc... or maybe ford does things differently

Yeah the GT's have hope, as I have found after seeing what a set of aftermarket cams will do for them. The Comp cams upper sized cam gained around 30 rwhp, and 40 rwtq, and that is great from just doing a cam swap. Ford really made the cam profile very mild in order to make these cars emissions friendly. But the fact still remains, if he can't do simple stuff like headers or other exhaust work, then he is being sold a bill of goods by the tuners.

OK..without giving anyone's secrets away, I will say this much from a very knowledgeable standpoint; this individual has highly inflated his rwhp dyno numbers. In fact, I would say the numbers he gave of 580/530 would most likely be exaggerated even for flywheel hp and tq.
Of course if pressed on the validity of my insider knowledge regarding the above mentioned info, I would not be able to confirm or deny....heheheeee

The '99+ 2V GTs run much better in stock form than the '96-'98 GTs did, plus they respond better to mods (especially boost!). The '99+ heads flow much better than the older castings, and they have a smaller combustion chamber which makes them a really popular swap. One thing I can't remember for sure, is if the '99+ pistons are dished to compensate for the newer heads in order to maintain the same static compression ratio.

Hey dude, do you happen to know him yourself or what? You can't come in here without giving up the whole scoop. That just makes everybody wonder even more, especially me since he lives less than twenty minutes away. If you know some details please share, I won't let on where I found out.

The only thing that came up was this thread. How did you know what color it is?

nm.. it was white99gt

http://forums.modulardepot.com/flyshow.php?&showid=163

Hes local to here and posts on this board often. He made 550rwhp on race gas with an s-trim.. he also only runs 11's.. ya know.. the weight issue

FWIW: He also has cams, modified heads, and forged bottomend. But if he can chime in, he'd know if that guy is bullshitting.

Peace,
Josh

I see now, that is a lot of power at the wheels for that slow of a time on that 99. I could imagine what an LS1 with those #s would do. I'm hoping for low to mid 7's in the 1/8th with around 400 at the wheels.

The only GT I know of with those number is Micool over at SVTP, and several other mustang sites. I know for a fact that he is making well over 600 rwhp, but then again he is far from stock. Still has the 4.6, but the little blower thingy kinda helps out, along with all of the other stuff that he has done.

He ran the 11's at alot less power (480rwhp?) but still.. His car is optimized not for drag racing, but for street driving.. I've seen the car in person.. its pretty freakin bad

Peace,
Josh
