With an automatic, your best bet would be from a dig with most, if not all, bolt ons, sticky tires, and a big stall
I edged one out at the track one day, and I have most bolt ons, a cam, and some drag radials, M6. So no you don't NEED juice to do it, but that would insure it...unless he's got his own secrets

Headers, Exhaust, Lid, 3500-3800 stall, Lower Control arms, tune, and with a Hot Cam, you should be looking at high 11s. Get a nice set of heads, subframe connectors, torque arm, and a rear sway bar, and your at the low low 11s. Maybe high 10s, if now then spray. Also, a set of nice and sticky tires is needed, and the added insurence of a stronger rear end might be in need, otherwise good luck. They are not that hard to beat.

Line up, have your girfriend (or pay some chick) to flash her **** at the driver then take off.
Hopefully the driver is a guy or at least a girl who is impressed with big ****.
You should take 'em buy a car or two.

"Ya, it's got a 3500 stall cam and a 224/224 converter on a 114LSA."
