LY6 without harness

LY6 without harness
Hello I was wondering if anyone here could help me. Im new to the LS world so please excuse me if my questions may seem a little grade school. There's a guy in my town that's selling a LY6 for pretty cheap but it doesn't come with a harness. If I were to purchase this without the harness, how hard would it be to find one? I was under the impression that the ECU and PCM had to match the the motor so is it a waste of time trying to deal with this guy? And my last question is, do I need the gas pedal? I see some motors sold with them and some without. Btw the motor is or of a 2008 Silverado HD 2500

Depends on what type of chassis/roller or OEM application you're putting the LY6 engine into....
1. Define the project (Goal of the Car).
2. How much is the (Budget)?
3. What are your wiring abilities or how many friends locally do you have with wiring schematics experience that will do it for you?
At some point all these things will come into play and will be critical to how you proceed with the harness. If you can score the LY6 at a decent price, take the money saved and invest in a custom harness for your goals.

Eddie,
1. The motor will be going into my 71 cutlass. I plan to make it a daily driver with somewhere around 400-500 rwhp N/A.
2. My budget is on a budget so I'd like to save money anywhere possible.
3. The guy that's doing the swap for me is the one who will be do the wiring as well but if not I'm sure there's somewhere I can take it to be done.
My biggest concern is not having the harness to go with it. I don't think I really need a custom harness if I don't plan on running boost, right?

All gen 4 engines are drive-by-wire, so you'll need a pedal.
Almost all gen 4 harnesses will technically work.
As far as ECU, if you plan on having it tuned, then it doesn't matter much which one you pick.

I think im more interested in the drive by cable set-up just to make things more simple. Now as far as this ECU, any Gen 4 ECU will work, correct?

Nice choice! A 71 Cutlass with 400RWHP will be an amazingly fun car to drive daily.
You don't need a custom harness, for that goal... see the guy response Above he has everything you need it seems.

You can do drive by cable, but the Gen 4 ECUs won't be able to operate and idle air controller, so you'll have to do without.

Idle quality. It won't be able to self-adjust for high or low idle. You'll have to adjust the throttle blade or drill a larger hole depending on cam.
At that point, if you're not using an electronic trans I would go microsquirt.

VVT delete kit is $119 from Texas Speed.
https://www.texas-speed.com/p-724-vvt-delete-kit.aspx
You could probably get the parts used here in the classifieds for half that.
