What would LS1TECH do? 1998 Z28 or 2000 Trans Am?

This was not the case for any '98-'02 V8 F-bodies. There has been discussion about this in the past due to confusion regarding center console part numbers in the GM catalog. During the LT1 years (not sure if this applies to all years from '93-'97 though), if you had a GU2 A4 then there was a lock-out tab for manual 1st; it was not available on the selector as you've indicated above. The part number for this console from the '97 Camaro was listed in the GM catalog for the '98 as well, but the catalog is incorrect. All '98-'02 V8 F-bodies (GU2 and GU5) allowed manual selection of 1st gear.
Yes, exactly. The "SGS" (Second Gear Start) button replaced the "ASR" (Acceleration Slip Regulation) button.

I have a 98z. I love it. Having said that. I'd pick the trans am. One because of the color, I hate red. 2 the TA has more style imo. I find myself wanting to sell mine and get a blk ws6.

I had a 98 Red Z28 as well with the grey interior. Car ran like a beast. Never any issues with the drive train however the leather had shrunk a ton on both the driver and passenger seats. I never had any real issues with the car.
In this case though I would get the Trans Am. The NBM color is MY taste over red, especially with an ebony interior. Depends on which you rather. I prefer the Pontiac over the Camaro for styling, the seats feel way more supportive and the little things. In the end I would choose whichever is cleaner and which has a better owner/service history.

I wish I had a trans am and was actually thinking to myself the other day that if I was in the market for another fbody, it would be a 1999-2002 trans am. So... Trans Am gets my vote. I'd probably buy them both if I could XD

From a purely monetary aspect the Trans Ams sell for about 10% more than an identical year Z28. A 2000 sells for more than a 1998 as it's 2 model years newer. I think NBM is a more popular car than red. The Trans Am is generally more popular in the boy racer crowd than a Camaro.
How I'd add the differences:
TA worth +$800 to +$1,000 premium vs. same year Z28
2000 worth a +$1,000 premium vs 1998 just due to less depreciation
115K miles is worth $500-$600 less than a 100K mile car (assuming identical condition). I'd give the 1998 a $500 premium IF it was built before the sail panels bubbled.
All things being about equal, the TA "by the books" is +$1000 and will be easier to sell if you get tired of it.
