Default 95 Gauge Cluster in a '00 Car.

Would a 93-97 gauge cluster work in the newer 99-02 LS1 cars? I know it will fit in the dash, but is it compatible to just plug and play, like plug it in and it all works accuratly without issue? TIA

One question why would you want to do that?

My guess would be...no.

The gauge cluster needs to interface with the computer. The computer in 93-97 is different from the computer in 98-02. Just look at the odometer. The 93-97 odometer is mechanical and the 98-02 odometer is electronic.

Because I have a 2000 LS1 and i have a 95 gauge cluster and not a 99-02. Why would I try to buy something if I have something else that might have worked.

1997 odo was digital.

Yup the 1997 odo was digital and was shaped like the LS1 odometers. But no it won't work.

OK, so my numbers are off by a year. Either way, the older gauge cluster probably wont be able to interface properly with the newer computer.

I think alot of people don't realize that your LS1 is in a third gen car. It took me a second to realize it too. If I were you I'd throw in a billet gauge cluster with some nice aftermarket guages. I'd imagine what you're talking about would be damn near impossible not to mention a wiring nightmare.

I'm confused here... are you doing a complete 4th gen interior swap? Having a 91, you'll have a style close to the 93-96's. The bad thing is, it's just not as easy to go swaping in aftermarket gauges like the 82-89 guys can do. I have a frien with an 89 IROC who threw in some autometer gauges into his car. They fit just about perfect and look sweet too.
