Newbie wanting to go fast build own turbo motor
Title says it all,
Wanting to build a turbo project car. I have 2 questions:
1. Do you think it's possible for a newb to build a turbo 5.3 or lq9 as far as wrenching goes with the help of this site ?
I understand there will be things I can't do like machining and tuning and I'll have to just send it out to be done but I'd like to build my own for the fun of it and to say I did it. I have basic tools aka good socket sets torque wrench compressor impact cherry picker engine stand
2. with a motor budget between $5-10k is it even possible and if so what would be suggested I'd like to get the most power I can out of my money but still have it somewhat durable/reliable. Stock bottom end twinned 5.3 ?
Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong area I am new

All of the above can be done no problem, and for less money than you think. Easily for less than $5k. My opinion, click on the forced induction section and read til your eyes bleed, and forget about twins waste of time and money, complicates things, unless you're trying to make 3000 horsepower and be on street outlaws. Watch sloppy mechanics on youtube, i'm not saying everything he does is the right way but it is a testament for how simple and cheap things can be. Good luck on your build!

Yes, you can do it. Check out the Sloppy Mechanics Wiki Page and then treat yourself to Sloppy Mechanics YouTube videos of Matt running 9's with junkyard garbage Chinese turbo goodness.

Pantera EFI EAP Question
Hi PHL, yes you are correct use a 5.3 GEN-IV AL engine as your base.
THIS casting is the SAME as the LS-3 only stronger.
My method is to model your engine using EAP with HP/Torque report.
I have most items in stock to for you needs with good cost tips.
Would you like my help ?
Lance
