Default Shift Kit causing loss of traction?

So my 99 ss has had a shift kit in it for the past few years and ever since it was put in under hard acceleration from 1st-2nd the tires will constantly lose grip and cause the car to go into a slide. I just put new Nittos on it and it was fine for awhile and has just recently started doing it again. Only performance mods done to the car are an slp lid, K&N air filter, loudmouth 2, and the free ram air mod. Not sure if the shift kit is whats causing it to slide or not, help would be appreciated, thanks!

Turn it back on before you wreck your car, only turn it off at the strip. It will help with hydroplaning and slick road conditions, rain etc. Alot of wrecked F bodys you find were because someone wanting a big burnout forgot to turn the TC back on when done showing out..

What kind of Nittos and what size?
If you only have some light bolt ons then you shouldn't be getting sideways hitting 2nd gear unless your tires are total garbage.

You being serious?
TC in these cars is a joke, its nothing like TC or stability control on modern day cars and in no way will help with hydroplaning.
People wreck their cars because they don't know how to drive.

Leave tc off.

What tires are you running ?

How old are the tires?

Check tire pressure and make sure you are not at like 40+psi.

What are the outside temps, meaning are the roads cold?

What size tire ?

I could see this happening on a dry tire with colder street temps in a stock 245/50/16 size tire.

Get a decent street tire or radial. Run the street tire around 30 psi cold. Run the radial around 24 psi cold.

When I had stock converter with sonnax performance pack shift kit and radials I would bark second gear at wot

Had same issue because I would punch it under 35MPH with cheap tires, less then a 1/4 tank of gas and no spare tire or jack. In the summer with basic bolt on's you shouldn't have problems, it should just chirp. I found higher tire pressure does help when it comes to MPG and better track times but bad traction at low speeds. When it comes to fall time then I don't punch my car under 35MPH since it pulls sideways and can keep it like that but just don't want a ticket. I don't have traction control and it was worse on my first car which the LT1 I had, had crazy low end torque versus my 99 LS1.

Threads like this crack me up. Might as well go get a Prius if you think breaking loose from power is a problem.

A friend of mine had a 70 GTO with a shift kit that would chirp 1-2 just putting around town. Annoying. A shift kit will give a quicker, firmer, more positive shift than the slow, cushy stock settings. But how firm depends on how it's set up. There's no need for it to slam into gear.

I would check the second gear accumulator for washers. Any more than one will produce a harsh 1-2 shift that could certainly kick the rear out at WOT, especially on poor tires.
