Default When turning key, is the resistance felt when turning to key to start the switch?

Fail on title as typing on phone. Should've been -Is the resistance felt when turning key to start the switch?

Just a question I have, trying to diagnose a ignition issue. Is the resistance when turning the key to start the car from the cylinder itself or the switch behind it? Thanks

The switch.

with no switch the cylinder turns freely, super freely. Well, it should unless there is a problem with it.
