Default 3rd Gear Grind

I am new to the the LS world and recently purchased a 1998 Z28. Still trying to learn the car. After driving for about a week I noticed a slight grind in fourth and a harder grind when shifting quickly into 3rd. Was wondering if there is anyone in Inland Empire, California that could replace my syncros or rebuild my t56. Any input would help. Trying to keep the cost under 1k. Thank you

I would ask this question in the Western Members subforum. You might get better responses. I think CMS Performance is in the inland empire. I don't know if they offer that type of service, however you could ask them who they take their transmissions to.

The stock shifter SUCKS, you might want to check out a aftermarket one. These trannys tend to grind when it is cold and the oil is thick. might want to change the fluid and add new additive to make the shifts smoother. I have the HURST on mine and it works flawlessness.

Thanks for the insight! I was told it had an aftermarket shifter but I will look into getting a new one. The 3rd gear only happens when I shift quickly and doesn't seem to matter if its warmed up or not.
