T56 to 4L60
Ok folks. I have a 4L60E from a 1996 Firebird Formula and want to know would it mate to a 2000 Trans Am LS1. The LS1 car was a manual car from factory. It had the T56 in it. What will I need to get it to work properly in terms of operation? Will this 4L60E bolt up to the LS1 with no problem? Please community help me out. I need someone whose experienced and knows what there actually talking about... I’m a diesel mechanic myself and decided to actually take a look into this. Before I shell out 3500 for the TRANS AM I want to know what is all needed. Thanks in advance guys. Hope for speedy replying.

The LT1 4L60e's (94-97) use a different input shaft than the LS1 versions. So it won't bolt right in. For more info on manual/automatic swaps, consult the stickies on the manual transmission forum - although most of the info is on auto to manual swaps.
