I love my 98, no major problems and no tuning issues here. Of course I do have the PITA rear hatch that you have to slam shut to get it to catch, other than that, I see no reason why a 98 sould be overlooked for a 99. Oh I forgot, the side mirrors in 98's are tinted blue

As for the 98's, they will dyno lower than newer ones. I only made 320/337 with headers, duals, and a lid. Some people make that practically stock or with lid/cat-back. Oh well, by the time i finish my mods, it won't matter that it was a 98

I have a 98 never had a problem with it, I am around 103k and still putting a beating on zo6s. I heard that the 98s have bigger injectors and a thicker fly wheel to the others. Just my .2 cents

There are lots of little diffs.....us 98's have a stronger flexplate as well
Also larger injectors than the 99-00.
Read the article on JRP's sig. It has all the diffs listed.

Good injectors, lousy intakes. AIR/EGR System sucks. I wish I had stereo controls on the steering wheel....not that it matter now, I'm changing out to a more race oriented steering wheel, and the car is graduating to a full on drag car now.
Change out to an LS6 intake, and you should see another 20 ponies pretty easy.
Oh, how could I forget.....PHUCKING OIL PUMPS SUCK!!!! But only on a small number of them...like mine. dammit.

I guess i got lucky...no problems with oil pump or rear hatch- it opens the first time and closes the first time. And plus our gauges work correctly and we had the special one tail pipe option for the ss
. And one quick question....why do the lt1s and 99+ ls1s have temp gauges that start at 100? Mine starts at 160...

My hatch closes on the first time, but thats because I slam the **** out of it. Oil pump works great, but i'm only at 30,000 miles.

My 1998 Camaro SS has exactly 14,442 miles on it. Used less then 7 full bottles of nitrous, and the oil pump took a crap. Mileage has nothing to do with it. The car still smells new inside!!!!

With a fan switch or tuning you can make it run at the low end most all of the time ![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)
