Default $800.00 Budget

($800 dollar budget for 99z28 with miniumal mods.)

Hey I am thinking about dropping a few bucks into the baby before i head off to school. I have about a 800 dollar budget. I have a lid/ported and polished TB/Headers/ORYP/Hooker Catback. I am debating what I want/need next. Let me know what your guys think would be a good investment.

Thanks for the help,
John Melamed

Do you think my stock clutch will hold nitrous? I have thought about n2o before but unsure due to clutch and other little misc things. What kit do u suggest, id be hiding it BIG TIME... If anyone has anything for sale as well as n20 stuff, let me know.

Thanks,

Either a cam and a tune or an LS6 intake and a tune.

I'm sorry, but how can you do a cam and a tune for $800????????? Keeping in mind that you need to swap things such as the springs when you go to a larger cam...............

Can you do installs yourself??

I'd do the boring preventative mantenance/strengthening stuff first. I think I've decided to do that after I rework my exhaust. Anyways...SFCs, shifter/short stick, PCV catch-can. You could do those three with your budget and still have some leftover for whatever. How about a Ram-air/CAI kit?

I suppose if you have every tool needed for a cam install (there are several most people will have to buy/borrow/rent), someone who can dyno tune for $350 (that is a little low I think), you get a great deal on a new hotcam/spring kit (usually seems to go for a little over $400 I think), you don't count how shipping would go over, and you don't want a "real" cam then you could do that. I think it is more highly recommended that you get a bigger cam than that so you don't leave a lot of power on the table and change later. A full kit from a sponsor is usually a minimum of $600-$750. That is not far off though..........if you can scrape a little more together get a cam kit from TSP and the mail order tune they do for ~$250 with cam purchase is a great deal. That's my vote

Atta boy!

Check out our classified section. I thought I just saw a brand new NX kit for sale. A 100 shot will drop 1 second and add 10mph to a basically stock LS1.

That's not a bad choice at all. I myself was SOOOO close to getting a NOS 5177 dry kit this summer and got a converter instead. I am just partial to cams, I absolutely LOVE the sound of a V8 loping along on a big cam through a nice exhaust system
That's why i got the converter in part, cause now I can get a big cam next year. But hey the flip of a switch to make your car a full second quicker doesn't sound too shabby, now does it?
