My 98 z28 has an issue with draining the battery so low it wont even spin the motor when i let it sit for a few days... any ideas? also the motor is not the ls1 it came with its a 5.3 out of a 2010 silverado. TIA

 

Well there are two ways to go after it-either you can install a battery cut-off switch on a battery cable-or if you want to try and chase it down-remove your negative battery cable and get a volt/ohm meter and set it on amps-hook the black lead to the negative battery post and the red lead to the ground cable coming from engine-pay attention to the amount of draw that it reads in amps before you move to the miili-amp scale-if you can see the draw in the amp scale leave it there-the reason for this is if the draw is too great for the milli amp scale you will blow the fuse in your meter and these are not cheap or readily available-if you can not see the draw in the amp scale-go ahead and move to the milli amp scale to get a more exact measurement of it-most draws are in the milli amps anyway-at that point when you have your meter hooked up you are basically using the meter to complete your ground connection-and your meter is now reading how many amps your car is using just sitting there-so now remove fuses one by one and pay attention to which one lowers the draw the most-this will indicate which circuit is drawing power and then you can go from there-now when you first hook the meter up and get the meter "in the circuit"
you will probably see a jump for several seconds wait until the computers go "back to sleep" and then take your reading-once the reading stabilizes after the computers do their thing-remove fuses one by one and if you remove one and your draw goes down-that is the circuit drawing power when you do find the circuit that is drawing power,to further troubleshoot, try unplugging things off of that circuit to see if it is a bad component or a wiring issue-hope this helps
