Default Grinding noise when accelerating from a stand still

Every time I at a stop and I accelerate hear as if something is scraping against another thing. only happens when I give it a good amount of gas but stops once I reach a steady speed. not sure what it is 2001 trans am ws6

Possibly a clutch issue if it's a manual transmission.

I know this is an older thread, but I was wondering if you ever found out the issue. I’m experiencing the same thing with my 99 Formula. I just had the 4l60e transmission rebuilt a year ago. Thanks.
