Depending on what's wrong, if the engine has to come out then it would likely be cheaper to buy one in running condition. Your budget will depend on what is the "best" route. I think we need to know more here, what are your end goals for this? Get it back on the road as cheap and quickly as possible, or are you looking to mod it while it's out/apart?

If you have an 02 LS1 Camaro you basically already have the corvette engine. Only difference is the heads and you can get those from a newer Silverado at the junkyard. Saying corvette just means you spend more money for the same part.

So here's the update, but I'm thinking they are going to consider the car totaled. Cheapest replacement engine as they no loner make LS1 is $10,250 plus tax fluid and labor. Plus there pas some collision damage to the cars front left.

It was fun looking at this: https://blueprintengines.com/product...am-psls4272ctf
$13299 (ETA 9/2022)

Both companies are saying engine won't be ready till October. Thoughts????? They are going to total it and write me a check for a 20 year old car? even though it is low miles???
