Theres lots of headers out there. My question is what's the best headers to get and the reason?

That's covered in this sticky

Exhaust Mod Guide

There seem to be five primary considerations. All of the headers with in the same primary size group dyno about the same, so swapping between one producer's 1 3/4" header and another won't net you anything.
  • Primary size
  • fitment
  • cost
  • material
  • longevity (rusting out, cracking)

SLP is the worst fitting, if you are lowered that matters a lot. Stainless or coated headers will last longer and look better, but cost more. TSP, Pacesetters, Speed Engineering all make good headers. Kooks and ARH are probably top of the shelf, but expensive.

I can only speak to Texas Speed 1 3/4", as that's what I'm running. They tuck up very well and I'm lowered 1.2".

I would say whatever stainless steel header that suits your needs, this is like an impossible question to answer. . . your engine specs dictate your header choice

SLP’s first design had **** fitment, they redesigned them in 04 or 05 I think and fit better now. Speed Engineering is garbage. TSP and Pacesetter are good and ARH are the best.

Kooks and Stainless Works are just as good as ARH, if not better.

Since when are speed engineering headers garbage? I have the 1 7/8 and they fit perfect.

Every product has had a bad duck at some time. If its 1 out of 100 or 1 out of 10,000, that "1" gets brought up as if it speaks for every single product that goes out the company's door.

TSP ceramic coated 1-7/8" headers have a good reputation for fitment and are priced very well. They're a good choice for either a bone stock LS to a 600+hp LS.

Stay the hell away from hooker headers. I bought a ceramic coated set for my 01 WS6 and after 2 years they were rusty. Never drove in the winter. Fitment was good. Just my 2 cents.

I like my Speed Engineering 1-7/8” longtubes. I had OBX and SLP previously, both of which did not fit as well as the Speed Engineering.

Default C10 fitment?

I've got a ls 408 backed by a T56, it's 2WD and lowered 6 in. in the front and 7in. in the rear. I'm needing help on some long tube choices that fit between the rails. Anyone been thru this

When I bought my car it had SLP headers,it performed well. I was at stock height and the headers would hit on ANY speed bump. I took them off and put Speed Engineering 1-7/8 headers on with their Y pipe.Much better clearance .Now im lowered and only hit if I go over the speed bumps to fast. I just cant spend a grand on "kooks" headers. Do the give more power??? not per dollar.

SE 1 7/8 headers hard to beat the price and quality.
