Default LC9 help for a LS newbie

So, about a month ago i did a texas speed dod delete on my 07 avalanche with an lc9. While i had the heads off i took them to an engine shop and had them surfaced. Guy told me he took the bare minimum and just cleaned them. I put it back together with the original pushrods and one did look a little worn on the end. I now have a tick/knock that is fairly loud when cold and gets better when warm but i can still hear it all the time at idle. Does piston slap go completely away after the piston swells? Could it be piston slap? Should i just swap pushrods and rockers? If so...How do i know what length pushrods? Is it possible they took too much off my heads? Im just looking for some direction. Thank you.
