99 Z28 Anti Theft System keeps going off. Hey everyone kinda new to the LS1 4th gen,
I bought a 99 for $3800 there is some wonky stuff going on with it. For some reason, the previous owner(s) have a wire running from the battery to the firewall into the dashboard. I am not 100% sure what it does but when you take it off the battery the car won't start the SECURITY on the instrument cluster flashes or turns on and the alarm goes off. I believe what the wire does it turns on the radio and bypasses the anti-theft while also connecting everything else... However, when the wire touches the battery all the gauges move and you can hear clicking. But the wire will be fine the real problem is that when you unlock the car the alarm goes off. When you close the door the alarm goes off. It is very annoying but if anyone has any advice or tips to fix it. I would like to get all the electrical fixed under the dash but its really not necessary except the wire in the engine bay looks amateur.
