I watched a 98 GT scatter an 8.8 on the starting line last night and he was running a whopping 14.0@100 with slicks.
Details please.

I've seen people run 140+ mph traps hold up fine with 8.8's, so I have no idea how a car with 1/3 of the power could blow it up.

how much would you say your car weighs...with your in it? The heavier the car the more chance there is you will break parts. I have put some serious abuse on my car in the last 3 years and SO FAR the rear is still intack, the only thing that has changes is gears. I dont have a TA cover or any other parts to make it stronger. As you can see from my sig I have done many 1.5 and now some high 1.4 60' with the stock rear. My 4400 stall liked to be lauched around 2500 rpms when the car was just bolt-ons, but now with the added power I plan to try a little higher and see how it does.

With your stall just try different rpms. Yes, foot on the brake hard and then then put your foot on the gas just to the desired rpms. start off with just above idle, then around 1500, and then go up a little at a time. With a 4000 stall I would say around 2k rpms but all stalls are different.

He had race slicks on it and I watched several runs that were right at 13.9-14.0 at 100 MPH.He did a good burnout and staged. He didn't have the rpm skyhigh but when he dumped the clutch it went BOOM BITCH.We jacked it up and put rollers under the wheels,as the clutch in made do difference.Anything can break.

"shocks" to the drivetrain are a stock 10-bolt's worst enemy... I suggest that you slip the clutch a tad more until you start beefing things up...

I've been doing fine with my 3.73 10bolt with 60's in the mid/low 1.5 range on cheater slicks. Every car is different, but A4s are a lot more forgiving than M6s. Good luck to ya.
