Back hatch struts question

When these cars were new (I bought two of them brand new) they would raise on their own once you got them going about half way or so (even faster if it was hot out).
At this point, my '98 is now like yours - it will stay up just fine if I raise it but it doesn't really go up on it's own unless it's hot out (and then only the last little bit). But I'm not complaining, I think it's doing pretty good for being original 25 year old hatch shocks.
