Hey everyone was looking for some help on choosing an intake. I have a lq9 with 799 heads and cam. A buddy of mine is basically giving me a ls2 intake he had left over from his swap and wanted to know if it would be worth it over the ls1 intake. I know everyone says to just get a ls6 intake but I’d rather just save up for a FAST in the future and don’t mind waiting. Only reason I’m even considering the swap is because like I said it’s being given to me and I know that the ls1 is hands down the worst LS intake. If there’s power to be gained I wouldn’t mind dealing with the throttle body, rails and injector o-rings situation.

 

My LS1 came with an LS6 intake but to answer your question yes the LS2 intake IMO would be the better intake over the two but from a performance standpoint I don't see them differing by much. Either one will perform well with the FAST being the overall best choice.

 

If you are getting the LS2 intake for free, slap it on and enjoy it.
it is better than a LS1 but not as good as a LS6.
but it is free!
you will have to get a 90mm TB but that is fine because you can reuse it later when you get a FAST intake.
so no downside that I can think of.
(you may also have to change your steam vent set up but that is a must later on anyway )

 

Try to get a FAST Intake that uses LS2 Rails & Injectors, and that will help in the longrun when setting up that LS2 Intake right now.
