Default CA 02 LS1 Options

Hello. Have an 02 Camaro Z28. 100k miles. Blew a head gasket. I'm in CA. What I can do heads/ cam wise and still pass smog? Also, are there any resources/ guides for this so I can do as much as possible. Like, what other parts will I need, intake manifold/ throttle body/ tune, extra cat(lol) etc... Thanks.

I would have a set of 706 heads ported with a Turrion mod on the stock rockers since this is probably going to be an emissions build. Cam wise I bet the sloppy stage 2 would pass. My neighbor built a 5.3 wrangler out there in CA and that's the cam he is running. As long as you keep the exhaust the same with a more efficient system I don't see why you would have any issues. Just make sure you buy a CA emission friendly exhaust. Just keep the stock stuff just in case you need to swap it out for an inspection. Determine if you have the LS6 intake or the LS1. Throttle body, Maf, and injectors can all stay. Id do a good tune up. NGK plugs and some MSD or something similar wire wise. Id grab a SLP lid box. Then depending if you have an auto you might need a 2500 stall converter for that cam. A tune might help with that tho. Not sure. Id throw some gears in the rear end as well.
