Emissions

Currently I have a cutout placed before my muffler and after my last cat. The car is not really loud at all with it open. Could I just hack off the muffler and run straight pipe? Would that pass emissions?

What year is your car? If your don't have a muffler it will not pass.

It's a '98. I didn't know if the cats would be good enough for it to pass....

also matter where you live..like around here no one cares if you pass emissions there are never any checks..i know 4 muscle cars in my small town that are running open headers

mufflers have nothing to do with emissions, if you replaced the muffler with straight pipes it'll run just as clean. Converters are what cleans the exhaust. If you have a "safety" inspection, then you Might need a muffler.
