retail prices i see on the internet (calling people sometimes lowers the price)

lid=$129
headers=$399pacesetterscoated
portedTB=$125
converter=$469
gearpackage=$255
campackage=$700
tune+$250
Total= $2250

assuming you do your own work
with some wheels and maybe some suspension could be 10sec time slips

If I had $2,000.00:

$550.00 for a 3000 stall from TCI
$50.00 to $100.00 for a trans cooler
$50.00 for a trans temp guage
$300.00 to $390.00 for installation

*Note: there are allot of guys/gals that do the labor themselves or find deals so these prices and such will vary. This is my list if it were me.

Then if you have crappy tires for hooking, get some better tires.

The TC from TCI should shave about .50 second off your 1/4 but you are gonna need tires to hook.

Anything left over:

1. bank it for a CAM upgrade
2. get other stuff like SFC, Tower Brace, better brake setup (pads and rotors), a lid if you do not have one is an inexpensive mod.

That is what I would do....

Good luck deciding and happy modding

hmm as fast as possible w/o nitrous? first off searching would answer this question a dozen times over.

also, check jrp's sig found here.

if i had an a4 and wanted max speed for 2k, i'd go for a stall, pacesetters, nittos, lid, tb, and an asp pulley. you'd pretty much be maxed out on bolt-on's then. save up for a cam install, and go for tsp's magic stick v3.

Torque converter, cooler, tuning, headers. Should put you around 2k depending on install and what brands of stuff you get. Almost everyone is gonna say TC is the best for the money.

My personel recomendations

Converter/shift kit/cooler: A TCI SSF 3500, Vig3200, or Yank SS3600 B&M 24k cooler, and TransGo shift kit.
Nitto drag radials.
Lid.
If you install converter yourself, put the money left over into economical headers with off road Y-pipe. Should absolutey find a way to install the headers yourself whenever you get them.

If you can still swing anything else, Subframe connectores are an EXCELLENT early mod or you can hunt down some more bolt ons such as lower control arms (LCA's), ported throttle body, cold air induction (SSRA, FTRA, SLP CAI....), or ASP underdrive pullies. Hunt around online, check out all the sponsors and the parts for sale section, look up guides for the installation procedures, and find out how much of it you can handle.

As always, do as many of the "free" mods as possible. Free ram air (FRA), home ported throttle body with bump stop mod, fernco/baker/hump hose, weight reduction (spare tire, jack, rear seat, front swaybar, AIR/EGR, etc etc can all be ditched easily.)
