This is exactly the conundrum I face. My 2004 GTO will be here any day now (still on the train from Cali). It is Black/Black with manual-6.

I've never raced a car, never customized a car either. Never had a car worth spending any $$ on! Now I have something and I stumbled accross this site and I'm pretty pumped up about getting my Goat. I may need to get a bigger loan, though...there's some stuff you guys have reco'd I kinda want!

I've come up with two thoughts on plates:

MY_GOAT
8MYDUST

Only 7 letters allowed. I think 8MYDUST is a bit aggressive for someone who's never raced, but hey, grow some *****, huh? I'm a medium to large fan of the old Goats, but not old enough to ever have seen one "in the day." That's why I'm leaning towards MY_GOAT.

Any other idears?

I think MY_GOAT would be pretty cool.

In MS it is $31 per year on top of registration. 7 letters including spaces. We also have to pay HUGE $$ for plates period. We don't have a personal property tax or something like that here, so they get their money from the tags. For example, tags for my Goat will cost $487 this year and probably next year. Then as the blue-book falls it will drop with it. They also change the style of the plates every 5-7 yrs.

In AR it is $25 on top of registration.

I wouldn't want everyone to be able to memorize my plate just by remembering my catchy phrase. Just paranoid I guess. I'm in Virginia as well. My plate has 'Z28' in it but is not that readable (unless you're on the ball to some degree). Give them something they have to figure out but then can forget. And don't worry that the average slob won't know what it is. It's more fun if the 'goobs' can't figure it out.

Ya know, I've already given the cops around here every opportunity to nail me....they just don't care! I live in the HEART of Ole Miss/Miss State football and I put a big PHAT Razorback sticker right over the top of the Magnolia on my plate. I speed every chance I get and yet the Cops STILL pass ME! I weave in and out of traffic and I treat traffic lights as a "tree".

Got pulled over once in the first 4 months I was here. Told the guy that I was new to the area and that 25 mph on a 4-lane in the middle of cotton fields was a bit slow and I wasn't aware of the limit.

I'd rather have a fun plate than worry about the cops around here. Besides, if it isn't a Mustang, or a tractor, they probably won't know what it is.
