i have a 2001 z 28 i dont drive regularly. it has always made a whistling noise that i assumed was radio noise. the radio is turned off and it is still doing it. it seems to be louder than it has been in the past. i also noticed that the clock display flickers when i step on the gas. could it be the alternator. any thots?

If it is your alternator/belt when you open the hood you should be able to hear it at the belt.

Also, does it get louder/quicker when you accelerate?
