Why are these people telling me LS1's are 14-15 second cars?!

I'ma bit confused....
So we should call our cars 14 sec. cars now?
some things dont make sence to me.
first, the statement that there are more 14+ sec ls1 fbods then low 13 sec ones. i gotta disagree.
the last shootout that EFA(our local club) had , there was i think 2 14+ sec cars there...
one was an lt1, the other was a v6...
bone stock i piloted our ws6 to 13.0
and my wife backed it up with a 13.2
most everyone in the 1400+locals logged to our web site run 13.5 or better
now i do give you we have a decent track at good elevation.
i would say the average is more like 13.5 not 14+
of cource, how many stock ls1 are there left in the world?
just to check we have 17 pages of track times with 25 people per page
of those 425 time slips , only 23 (fbodys)were slower the 13.5 and over half of those were -13.9
ls1.com(yeh i know boo hiss) has 216 listed times, only 7 were higher then 13.5
i would just like to see some proof of the average being 14+

He said if you took the average person driving an LS1, not the average person who drives an LS1 to the track.
A stupid arguement I know, but you are arguing stuff the guy didn't say int he first place.

that was not a 15 sec run, what is that time corrected?
you ran 14.52
you gave up .88 sec with your 60'
anyone should be able to get a 2.0 60'
thats 13.64 ,thats what you should run with a halfway decent launch at sealevel

My first time running my Z28 at the track got me between 14.2 and 14.4 on every run. Didn't mess up any of the launches or miss any gears. I can guarantee you won't see any stock LS1's hitting 13's here in Albuquerque. So if you count Albuquerque, you'll have a bunch of LS1s in the 14's, but that's if you don't subtract the second you lose for elevation.

My car should run low 17's... If I took it to a track at this moment, I would probably only run like 5-6 minutes in the 1/4 though... Then again, I would be pushing the car...
LS1's are mid-low 13 second cars... people pull off worse times, and they pull of better times. mid-low 13's seems to be the average with a decent driver though...

It means Read > Comprehend > Post.
In that order.
If you had read the thread you so helpfully linked us to, you'd see he CLEARLY stated that the average f-body owner would run a 14 sec 1/4 mile. There is no argument.
Take into consideration elevation and variations in driver ability, that's probably pretty true.
Does that mean a LS1 is a 14-15 second car? Nope.
You need to READ THEN COMPREHEND THEN POST.
If you did those 3 things, you would realize how pointless this thread is. The arguement in that thread was never the capability of the average LS1 car, but rather the varrying abilities of the average driver.
So next time, do us all a favor and R > C > P
