Default HELP, parking brake/e-brake BROKE

ok, so pulled into my driveway today and i normally always pull the e-brake after i put it in park and before i let of the normal brake(habit i guess) and it broke or something. It feels easier to pull and is A LOT louder than normal, crickety noise, like sprockets/gears are broken or loose. I have an A4

is this something Warranty will cover or am i gonna have to fix it myself or pay someone to do it

thanks for your help, i feel like a smacktard now

p.s. i also wasn't sure if this should go here or the brake forums so if a mod has to move it, let me apoligize in advance!

Lower the e-brake and re-raise it... that's the factory installed automatic tensioning device... also known as the POS.

Ya, that's not what it normally does after people think they break it. Usually it will go vertical and make a loud bang, but works when you let it down and back up. Yours sounds more serious. I'd take it apart and do an inspection.

do not take it apart, because if you dont know how to put it back together then you will not get it fixed free...
just get the warenty work done...
cause after you start seriouse modding it wont be an option
