Default Breathers and Cowl to Hood seal

Wasn't sure where to put this but anyway. The cowl to hood seal has never sealed well. The seal is or was in great shape before I cut it up. I just figured it was a factory flaw that it didn't seal up well so I figured I would turn it into a make shift heat extractor but leave some rubber behind to stop any rain from try to fall on a hot engine. But I have this one problem, I have a breather that visually smokes or steams at idle. So I wasn't sure if this would be detrimental to my health when I have my vents on and breathing all the crap in. I mean I'd still be breathing in some of it even if I didn't cut the seal up. Any input is appreciated.
