The 19 inch wheels are not helping you either. Might want to go to 3.90 or 4.10 rear end gears.

You are a brave guy going 150 with the top down and no roll bar!

Z06's weigh in at about 3100lbs (ligher windshield, less sound deadening, ti exhaust) . Coupes and Verts around 3200lbs (depending on options). From a roll weight will not be a huge factor. Even from a dig the ~100lb advantage won't be huge. Your lack of rear gear is hurting you and I would be using 3rd against them. Your additional power should make it close against a stock Z06.

Yeah, that **** was fun as ****......

well, if you wreck at 150...you are pretty much gone...roof or no roof.

I think i would rather be gone than be a twitchin' vegetable, ya know.

Shipping weight 3045 lbs. on Z06. That is what they weigh when they are loaded onto the transport truck that takes them from the factory to the dealership. This has to be correct because they get weighed in transit at the scales in different states. Truckers have to know how much weight they are carrying or they get fined. We sell on a average of 20 Z06's per month so I am pretty familiar with the weights of the cars. I have an invoice in my hand....

Well that must be without fuel. With less than a 1/4 of a tank a friends coupe weighed 3090. ~3100 is an average weight gassed up for a Z06. Magazines list them at 3100 or so. Threads on CF where guys have weighed them come in around 3100 pounds. My coupe weighed around 3170 with just over 3/4 of a tank at the strip. Non Z06 FRC's will be about 50-60 pounds lighter. The Z06's another 40 or so pounds. Yes Z06's are the lightest, but its not night and day between them and the other flavors of C5's. Its a light platform to begin with and a lighter windshield, lighter exhaust, and less sound deading can only do so much. Not trying to bash the Z06. I obviously like Vettes. But I'm just trying to keep things in perspective.

Just because you have driven 90k miles in vettes in the last 3 years doesn't mean you are a good driver(in terms of street racing)...

I would say the biggest problem you had, since you went up to 150 was your drag from having the top down. Also, if you have around 380 RWHP expecially in a vette and only pulling mid 12's... something is wrong... If you like the vert, then keep it... There will always be someone faster...

a friend of mine has a 00' vert c5 vette (older fellow- lol). it has stg. 2 heads (i forget which- im thinking patriot for some reason), decently lopey cam (also forget- not rediculous but not little), 3.73's, nitto's, 3800 stall, tuned, built trans, longtube headers/ cutout, i think that sums it up... *stock 19" rims*

his best run is 11.17 @ 12X.00mph (also forget- i guess im not helping much).

if you are running mid 12's, the car needs a tune BADLY. driving, a tune, and some KEY modifications could help you tremendously (like a cutout, which the above mentioned guy has)- you are still running cats for god sakes...

racing from a roll too can be deceptive. if the other guy is behind you and he nails it first, then you hit it when he is right next to you won't be able to catch/pass him unless you have a good deal more hp than him . say you and a stock/ mildly modified z06 had almost the same hp./weight ratio (same 1/4 mile times basically), well if the other guy gets the jump he'll walk you/ if you jump it is your win.

race from a stop from now on- racing from a roll is fun but it is too inconsistent imho to tell if you are faster than the other guy especially when we are talking about as little as one carlength from 60-150mph (practically even).

If you want a tank to be fast, you need some reall power.

Step up to forced induction and leave those Z06's scratching their heads.
