Default Sagging Exhaust Tips?? Fix & Pics Inside!

Well, I'm sure lots of people with after market exhausts or just the tips (like me) might have had this problem. Figured I'd share my fix for this to help others...

Step 1: Buy some #36 metal hose clamps. These will work perfectly for this.
Step 2: Undo them completely and wrap around the rubber exhaust hangers
Step 3: Tighten until you're satisfied with the result and both tips are even.

This won't bring the tips all the way to the bumper, but enough to make a huge difference in the way the tips look. This also keep the tips from bouncing around when hitting bumpers... Hope this helps!

I'll nominate you for the 04 MacGyver of the Year award. Cheap, abundant, effective.

Great Tip! I used panduit straps (huge zip-ties), it's amazing how strong they are. They've been on there a year, but i'm sure they won't hold out for much longer. Your idea is permenant. BRAVO!!

Unhappy

I just got around to doing this. Size #36 clamps are easy to find at Home Depot. I did the driver's side exhaust mount without any issues. It looks just like InfiniteReality's. But my passenger side exhaust mount is way different; there doesn't seem to be a way to put a clamp around the rubber thing like on the driver's side of my car or on either side of InfiniteReality's car. Weird.

Here is what the exhaust hanger looks like on the passenger side of my 2002 Trans Am. Both pictures are the passenger side and both pictures are hyperlinks to larger versions of the same images - just click on them to make them bigger. Any advice?

I am in the same situation right now with my 02 TA......the only thing that i have right now holding the passenger side up to keep it even it was 2 black zip ties ( the large size )...wrapped around the frame ......you will see 2 holes in the frame.....

Thanks for the reply and the suggestion. Yes I saw those two holes and was thinking how I could use them. I'll try adding zip ties to see if that raises the passenger side of the exhaust system higher. The driver's side is perfect but the passenger's side is about 1 inch lower. The funny thing is my GMMG exhaust system came with two big black zip ties - and I got them off the pipes in the box without cutting them by sticking a small screwdriver in the tab to release them! Ironic...

Yeah, just remember to pull the zip ties slowly together untill it looks even......i made the mistake and pulled the zip ties to fast......I was lucky I got a pack of them.

I had the same problem and i fixed it by bending the drivers side hanger and putting an extra piece of rubber in the passenger's side
