Newbie seeking mod advice for 99 ls1 A4
Just bought a stock 99 z28 auto. Looking for opinions on minor bolt ons. Already have a hypertech power programmer.I'd like to know who makes the best parts and what works. I have a 9 second pump gas street camaro and a 91 Z28 with some handling work and bought this to daily drive in comfort. I wish i got the 6 speed but might trade it down the road. I'd like to dip in the 12's on small drag radial. Not really into changing the cat back unless someone makes a quiet one that add a decent improvement. Thanks for your time. Dan

a converter, gears, lid,cut-out ,and some sticky tires will surely get you deep into the 12s. dont discount your A4, its a good tranny and will amaze you on how many people you will kill off the line.

Yea I agree, a few basic bolt ons with a cutout and good converter should get you into the 12s. I wouldn't bother touching the gears, just get a converter to match what you currently have in the rear.

if you want streetable cmfort...id say
between 3000 and 3500 stall torque converter (ive heard good things about the TCISSF3500 (drag radials are a must) and the TCI SSF(?) 3000 (just good tires) )
get a cutout...ive heard that Headers through the stock catback add power, and dontincrese sound too much....id say if any get mac midlengths
check your door codes if you have a GU2 code you have a 2.73 rear end, if you have a Gu5 code you have 3.23's. If you hae the Gu2, get a 12 bolt posi rear end with 3.42's and mate that with your higher stall torque converter...you may also want a Trans Go Shift Kit
the rest of the bolt ons like cutout, lid, ported tb, and crank pulley are great gains and all are pretty much like sleeper mods...that is until the cutouts open
