Default :( Help Me!!!!!

ok as i was coming home today i got stuck in the rain and ran into some high water. the car died. i tried to start it at most 3 times and then got it towed home. once i got it home the car still did not wanna start so i bought a new started pulled the plugs out drained the oil and took the filter off. put new oil and installed the new started but when i pulled the old one off part of the thread where the bolt screws into fell off. the bolt can still thread in but when i installed the new started and tried to start it my friend who was under the car said that part of the new started broke off. it was the mount for one of the bolts. what should i do about everything? take it to the dealer and let them fix it. i get discounted parts. please help. this is my daily driver. well it was till it gets fixed

Let me start by asking, why the heck did you buy a new starter?

I believe in most cases like this, you just need to get any water that's present outta the engine. Change the oil, plugs, and filter.

I'm not sure what to tell you about the broken starter pieces.

Worst case scenario, your engine is hydrolocked..

Questions/Notes:
* What were the symptoms of "not starting"?
* Did it crank?
- If so then its not the starter.
* Did it not crank (nothing happens)?
- If so, did the starter actually get any power?
- If not then its an electrical issue. Which may or may not be related to ignition.
it may be a security issue.
- If the starter did get power, but didn't spin, then its dead and needs replacing.

These are all questions/notes/issues to consider before spending time/money. Start with the cheap/easy stuff first and work your way up.

Hopefully, your motor is not hydro-locked. That can definitly be a problem with our cars due to the "bottom breathing" intake. That said, the guys at HPE are fantastic. Rick and the other guys will do you right with no BS. Did you make it to the last dyno day there? It was in Oct. I was the last car ran on the dyno-jet. Stock black 99 Z.

Just curious: do you have FRA or an aftermarket intake? The water would have to be about 2 feet deep to get into the stock set-up.

to reply to everyone no i dont have an aftermarket intake. well i all i have is a lid and thats it. and nosjohn i jumped the curb to avoid the water but by the time i was going to try to turn around the water was way to deep on the other side. see the bad thing about this i just might have to upgrade to an HPE 408 block. that does really suck huh?
