Default another Ls1 noob!

just wanted to say hey and introduce myself....

my name is Darby and I just purchased a 97 m6 lt1 last month, then sold it to my dad in order to purchase a 98 z28 for a rediculously awesome price.....

I bought it at a local car dealership
black leather interior, artic white exterior,t-tops,m6,flawless paint,body,everything.....theres a large list of mods, ill try to touch base on most.....
~under 5k miles on brand new ls1 motor (not rebuilt) 68k miles on car
~stage 2 heads (with 3k dollars of work) milled, bigger double springs 3 angle comp valve job and all kinds of other crap.
~Ls6 intake,slp air lid,3.73 gears,nitto drag radials on 02' ss 10 spoke rims
~1.8 rr's,mild crane cam,smog delete,aftermarket plugs and wires,underdrive pullys,mass air is aftermarket also,hooker hedders,800$borla catback exhaust.....
~previous owner sent all records and reciepts totaling at least 10k dollars(he was married and having a baby thats why he had to let it go)

only thing the car needed was a clutch(spec clutch is on the way),I put the car on the dyno the day the clutch went out and put down 390 rwhp untuned and with stock throttle body and slipping clutch,I also wasnt sure what rpm to take it to so i only took it to 5800k,which i was later told with the mods i should have taken it to closer to 7k.I also had three people trying to buy it before i even took it off the rollers.
future plans call for suspension work, throttle body, performance tune, and maybe a small amount of nitrous.

ive always wanted an 11 second daily driver so hopefully this is her.....this car aint goin nowhere!

welcome to the forum, and nice looking Z. You look like you have a good head start on your mods I would say the first thing you need to do is get yourself ls1edit. I would think there is probably a good 20 hp lurking in there for you. Again, welcome to the board and just remember that search is your friend. If it seems like a question that has been asked...it has...and you can probably find the answer you are looking for. Just some friendly advice. Good luck. Oh, and do yourself a favor and take off that damned sticker on your Whisper lid, its the same one I have and thought the sticker was too cheasy and ricey looking. my .02

yeah nice looking car. Hp tuners is definetly much better than ls1edit and it comes with a scanner and you can use it with any car of 2 different years.

Nice car, its always good to hear stories that dont end with the dealership ******* sombody. it sounds like you have a good solid foundation from which to build on.

Oh, & if you ever have problems you might want to go back to the stock mass air.

Even if you don't have any problems i would still go back to a stock, unported, non descreened MAF. The stock MAF's really are the way to go with these cars. Nice car, next time on the dyno, let her rip all the way to 7K, i'll bet you shut down the dyno run at least 400 RPM before the cam peaked.

It's because of the angle of the picture.

Welcome... and yes, definately go with HPTuners. You can select 2 different years to go with and have unlimited tuning for any of those cars under the 2 selected years.

A stock ported throttle body will work just fine.

ive read somewhere that these motors will handle a 100 shot stock, wet is better than dry, and LS1 Speed is the only place ive been able to come across NOS direct port injection, ive never used N2O, so i dont know what brand is better, but i think N2O is N2O, doesnt matter who bottles it

actually through my mustang friends, they have noticed certain better gains in certain nitrous companys......not sure which it was but one brand cranked out several more hp with the same type of shot.

Ive learned on here that
ZEX 100shot = 75rwhp
TNT 100shot = 115rwhp
NX 100shot = 100rwhp

That just means with ZEX you actually have a 75shot labled as a 100, and with TNT you have a 115 shot labled as a 100.

If you spray a 75shot of NX & 100 of Zex your actually get the samething neither one is spraying any more juice into the motor.

Id rather tell people im running a 75 shot & get it, then to tell people im running a 100shot which will only give me 75.

Umm....the "shots" are measured at crank hp, not rwhp. A 100 shot puts about 80 to the ground.
