If you always wanted the vette, go for the vette. I like the Camaro, because it is slightly more practical. I always felt the vette is a little to flashy for me. You will get more vitamin P in the vette though. If drag racing is your thing, get a Z28 and hop it up with the money you will save. I got a non modded (Well a flowmaster single in dual out muffler), m6, 2002, with 42K miles, Power Package, Monsoon system for $14K. I had to look around and drive 400 miles one way to get it though. I hope to have it paid for in a couple of months and then hop it up. If I can get some solid 11's and keep it real streetable, I'd like to buy older high mileage automatic Z28 to build a real fast street car out of it. The two cars would be way less than the vette.

By the time your ready to buy your car, C5 prices will be well on the steep decline that occurs in resale when the next generation hits the streets. Keep that in mind, there will be newer and flashier vettes that yours, but for me, the C5 isn't a car, it's art.

It depends if it is your only tranportation...The vette would suck to take grocery shopping. And as far as the ho's are concerned, if you want a car to attract them get a exotic. But you could be driving a Cavalier and any wallet sniffing bi#@% worth her weight in condoms will hang with you if you flash some cash.
What i'm saying is...drive em and buy what feels right. They are both beautiful cars.

sorry bout the wreck, that sux
thats a tough decision tho, ss or vette. i LOVE vettes but in this case i'd go with the SS UNLESS you could get a C6... my reasoning being the SS is more rare than the C5 and the C6 just came out, plus there is just something about the name SS. either way, you're getting a sweet ride. post up some pics of which ever you get!

It depends on what you like to do performance-wise with your car. If you like to drag-race a-lot - go with the Camaro. If you plan on taking it to a roadcourse for some hot-lapping through the twisties - go with the Vette.
As for visuals, that personal preference. I think that the Vette is nice looking, but not aggressive. The Camaro is meaner looking, plus is going to be more rarely seen as time goes on. Vettes are a dime a dozen - see 'em everywhere. But, an SS - that hood, the lines, much more memorable.
Just my two cents. Good luck!

I would walk past 30 Vettes to look at one SS.
With the money I have in my SS alone I could have allmost paid cash for a new Vette, I also have a 30th TA and an 01 WS6.
I dont disslike them, they just bore me.

option number 3: another Z28
if those are your options go for the Vette, as ive said before, my moms fwd 02 Monte Carlo SS V6 pretty much killed the "SS" badge in my eyes
the other thing you have to look at is what are you going to be doing with it, IMO i like cowl hoods better than the ram air hood, i like the Z28 spoiler better than the SS spoiler, and think about all the factory performance upgrades that you'll be swaping out, if your looking into another Camaro get the basic Z and take all that extra money you didnt spend on a badge and put it towards performance, i dont see too many C5s driving around my house so if you looking for a really attention getter, the Vette is the the way to go

Hmm, I think to myself..what to get after my car..... Yes! Another Trans Am!
But...that would be boring, having the same car... So the Vette is the obvious next step in the car owning evolution
1 Lighter
2 Built WAY better
Get the vette if you want another car.
Get the SS if you want a cheap drag car.

Vet hands down. The pulling ho's thing is very true and I only pay 420 every 6 months for full coverage on my 02 Z06. I can not believe how cheap it is. It is weird as my 02 Camaro cost me $765 for 6 months. Oh and if you are wondering I am only 29 so it is not like I am the average 50 year old vet driver.

I too love Corvettes but if I was to get one it would be a Z06 and a Z06 only. I would not even bother with a base LS1 Corvette(just my .02).
I have a 2002 SS, M6, pewter with chromes and love it. It only has 2K miles. The SS will hold its value better unlike the current C5. With the C6 out no one will want one. The prices on C5s will drop like an elevator without cables.
But the only person that should decided what to get is YOU. Not any of us. I think about buying a Z06 everyday....an I could with no problem if I wanted to. There is somthing about my SS that makes me keep it safe in the garage.
Your call.
PS..Corvettes will ALWAYS get the bitches over an F-body. That is a standard no cost feature that comes with either a base or Z06.
