Fram paper air filter is just as good as K&N. With my Camaro SS, I got rid of K&N in favor of paper filter, no performance difference at all, also, I'd rather stick in a new filter every oil change rather than cleaning/re-oil reuseable filter.

I ran K&N's for a long time, but it's been back to the AC filters for me for months now.

I use a Fram Air Hog here and I have actually dyno'd between that and a Holley Blue filter and I get the same results.

Anyone use a foam air filter? I run an amsoil 2 stage foam air filter. When I first ran with it I did feel better throttle response. But now I'am going to remove it and go with reagular paper air filter, because people have said after awhile you get oil on the maf and the car can stumle acceleration. I just havn't got to buying the paper filter and cleaning the maf, to see how much oil is on the maf, if any. Has anybody with an oil air filter cleaned their maf and found some oil on the maf?

Werd im replacing my KnN filter with a stock paper filter. Same horsepower but better filtration PLus you dont have to worry about oiling your MAFS

Dunno about the whole K&N air filter vs others, cept for what the companies claim. I bought my car with the K&N, so I'm stickin with it. But have any of you compared the inside of a Fram oil filter to a say K&N oil fitler? It's a night and day difference. The Fram oil filter is completely dated and inferior to even an AC Delco oil fitler as far as design and materials used inside the filter. Plus I've read some horror stories about the Fram oil filter, thought i saw a post on LS1tech about it, maybe not. I know I'm not puttin that **** in to filter my oil.

I have a holley powershot. I dynoed 338hp then the very next pull, removed the airfilter completely and pulled a 346hp and gained 7ftlbs. not sure if a paper air filter will restict THAT much. is that too much of a loss? should i go back to paper?

I run a K&N FIPK, and I'll see how diry my MAF is next oil change. I cleaned my MAF last time(i think the first time its ever been cleaned, and my car started to run all messed up once it was clean cuz my tune was so off), so we'll see how it goes. Personally I don't think theres much difference between any of them besides personal preference.

I am running a fram paper filter.

After my K&N got dirty, I took it out to clean it and haven't put it back in over 6 months. The paper filter is doing just fine.

I will not use fram oil filters though, only K&N.

again I reitterate, when switching from a fram regular old paper filter to the airhog I DID notice a considerable positive difference in throttle response. Its strange that effects are so varied from engine to engine.

Might be because you are missing the filter tray.

i have the filter tray, but the stripping on the k&n upper half isnt as tall as the paper one i use so it leaks from the rear of the air lid.

You are missing the gasket that usually comes with the K&N filters.

I just use paper air filters and change them regularly. I don't ever use fram oil filters though. I use a wix oil filter.

i went and picked up some of the weather stripping used in the package a while back after i realized i didnt have it and it still didnt fit right, so i decided to just leave it and the stress from it cracked my air lid........ so i had to buy a new lid...ill take the paper filter to avoid the many problems associated with K&n air filters, but i would not hesitate to use them on any other vehicle i own....just not my TA
