I'd go with a lid, catback (hooker or magnaflow), nittos, stall, LTs/ORY. That would get you mid 12s pretty easy.

Default FIRST MODS WOO! Part 2......yeah

I have a red 99 z28 auto

i asked what i should get first...(its bone stock)

i think i am taking the wrong approach...i want to get the cheapest equipment possible but it also needs to work really well.....in other words
tell me what products are best value.

Here is what im going for....I want a car that runs in the mid twelves but one that can also do autocross decently. Keep in mind this is only for recreation so when we talk about money for parts....700 and up is to expensive for one part to me. (limited income....and im 17)

Soooooooooooo.....heres what i need to know. What performance mods, in order, should i buy and install? what brands? DONT WORRY ABOUT SUSPENSION SET UP NOW...there will be time for that later.

THANK YOU FOR ALL HELP.....THIS SITE ROCKS!!

I see no reason to pick up a cheap lid. There was a thread that was called something like Newbie Mod Mistakes (https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...ewbie+mistakes) that had tons of mistakes that people have made in their opinion, and what they would have done different from the get go. Read up on that a bit and make a decision based on your goals and your money situation

Hey man, I'm 17 too! Everyone bashes on the HPP3 but I could feel a difference, especially w/ an auto, and I got it for $150. First thing I did would get SFC's. Brands aren't that important just go by size, there is no such thing as overkill with these. I know it's suspension, but even being bone stock, you can twist your frame and get little ripples down your quarter panel. Also, a lid, stall, and a cutout or something. I just bought a GMS lid on ebay for $44 and a cutout is like 30 for a manual or 120 for an electric, I loooove the electric. BTW where are you located?

Lid, converter, cutout, SFC's, and some DR's if possible.

keep the stock airbox, hide a dry kit in it, get it tuned, buy some tires and converter, race on street for money until you can afford more parts

I've thought about nos and it scares the crap out of me, cause if my engine goes, I have no car. Although, I have heard that if you use under a 100 shot that nothing bad will happen. Your thoughts?

[QUOTE=domesticracer]
SLP intake system (filter, smoothe below, cold air induc, and lid)

GOOD IDEA?[QUOTE]
NO!

Get Fast Toy's ram air and a cheap (perhaps used) lid. Fast Toys is a sponsor and should have a link to the right. Stick with the stock paper filters for LS1 cars, I say.
