find me one for 9K thats decent.

for that price, it might be worth having one for a spare for my daily driver.

I would say about 13-14 and work from there. But hey, if you can get it for 9, go for it the only decent ls1's i've seen for that price are Z28's (22K new vs $31K)

I have seen beat up cars for those prices, as well as a beat to crap, worn out 98 ws6 formula for that price.

One thing that i find funny about most of these threads, is the SS/Z28 guys always say cheap prices, where the bird guys are more reasonable with the local market for these cars.

I have a 98 WS6. I would hope I could get 14-17K for mine. My car is flawless too. Who knows if some one gives me my price I might sell it.

I would pay between 12000-15000 depending on condition/mods.

Default Whats it worth to you?

I got my 99 WS6 Hurst M6 last year for about 13,000 (The owner came down from 14,900.) It already had the G2 lid and MAF, K&N, 4.10's...pretty much all the little stuff in my sig. The girl was selling it so she and her boyfriend could focus on getting a house. She told me later she almost cried watching me haul it away (It was in another state and had dead tags, so I had to had to pull it back.)

Anyway...check the value from a few different sources, but also ask what it is worth to you.

Wow, some of you are very willing to overpay for these cars. Shop around, the deals are to be had. I got my old '98. two and a half years ago, for what you guys are willing to pay now. You can get a 2001 for 14K....no way in hell i'd pay anywhere near that amount for a '98

Some of us are more picky about condition that others. If you want a true mint condition LS1 car (meaning no rain or snow EVER, basically NO imperfections, stock, all documents, original owner, etc.) you are going to pay a premium price. There are no new F-bodies, and no reasonable replacement as of yet. Therefore, truly mint condition examples (whether it be an SS/WS6 or just a Z28) will bring far more than the bargin prices you can get on a daily driver or fair condition examples of the same car.

I can say that I am 100% certain that there is NO 2001 WS6 for $14K anywhere in the country that would suit my needs condition and mileage wise. Some people aren't very picky though, they'd rather get the bargin.

Sorry, i forgot the car in question was a WS6, in that case you can find one for about $17K. A year ago i was finding 2001 T/A's with 15-20K on them in the $15K range.

You guys can keep overpaying....maybe it will actually help these car's resale value in the long run. Remember, these are just camaro's and firebirds you are selling. They aren't collector's items now, and very few of them ever will be. If you guys want to pay $15K for a "mint" condition '98 that's fine by me. I personally would rather go out and buy a 2001 for the same price.

BTW, as of a week or two ago there was a brand new, never titled, 2002 WS6 in texas for 26K.

It's not a matter of a collector's item. It's all about how much you are willing to spend to get what you want. I don't feel that any car is an investment, I'm just willing to pay for what I want. Everyone spends their money in different ways; what is a waste to some is gold to others. To me, I'd rather pay $15K to get any '98 F-body that is show quality and garaged on all but perfect weather days and has less than 15K miles than pay $15K to get a '01 F-body that was used in all weather as a daily driver and has 50K miles on the clock. The LS6 intake, truck cam, and other minor revisions just aren't worth much to me; condition is FAR more important, IMO.

I pay for condition, not age. Then again, I wasn't looking for a race car or daily driver when I bought my latest LS1 car.

i sure they do have rebates...but last i heard they wanted 30k or something for it, maybe 35k...im sure theres some rebates..but it is a ceta, and its already been there 3 years, i dont think youll get too much money off... couldnt hurt to call and ask tho. the dealer was in amarillo or something. theres another thread where it was discussed. i saw it on ebay, and the price was at 25k and the reserve wasnt met. look amazing tho, and it only had 275 miles

My rebate comment was more of a joke. I just got my GTO 6 weeks ago, i've still got 46 1/2 months of smart buy to enjoy this car.

It's convenient to overlook half of my argument to justify yours, isn't it. The 2001's i found in that range were 15-20K mile cars. And the '98 in question in this thread has 40K miles, i'm pretty sure it's seen a little bit of weather in its time.

Back on topic, '98 WS6 with 40K miles, i'd pay 9K, 10 tops. The only way i would ever consider paying more is if it was Bright Purple Metallic.

i have to agree it's all preference. I bought mine with all the original papers and totally mint and i paid 16,000 last year with 19,000 miles on it. i think it was worth every penny and i wouldn't trade it for anything else

I think the price range is acceptable for a 98 in mint condition, stock, doccuments ect. Two years ago when I got mine for 17k I found a 00 ws6 on a lot listed for 17.500. I looked at it, what a It didn't even have matching rims, you get what pay for and newer isn't always better or worth more $ in my opinion.

Nope, this was part of my reasoning as well. Mileage and condition is far more important in my eyes than a 4 year age difference.
