Help with noise

Well, I got my 98 formula on monday and already it is acting up. When I hit the gas (just a tap, or pushed to the floor) I get a whinning sound from my engine. I am not sure what it is and how to fix it. Could the belt be slipping? I still have my oil pressure jump to about 60 when I floor it. Its starting to concern me. Does it whine like a transmission? My T-56 whines a little bit.

well the noise is coming from the front and I dont have a t56 im a4

sorry, the AIR system. that would make a whistle noise if it has a hole when you accelerate.

i just put on my emissions free headers a couple weeks ago and i still havent taken my AIR off. i just have the hose tucked away. it whines pretty loud, so if one of your hoses has a slash in it, it could be that.

Well I think it's the bealts because it gets louder as I accelerate. How can I check and see if its the AIR system? Can the AIR system have an impact on my fuel economy because right now im getting about 11mpg.
