I'm one that's getting my hopes up. If enough people get a stir going, then even if it was all rumor, it'd light a fire under some asses to get going on the project.

Exactly.

If I remember correctly, the only year (at least since the second gen Vettes, '63 and up) that any regular production Chevy had an optional power rating higher than the top Vette motor was in 1970 when the LS6 Chevelle SS was introduced at 450hp.

As for the '05 GTO and '05 base Vette sharing the same rating, I guess it's possibile that some upper trim level of Camaro (future SS?) might share a power rating with a base vette, but there is absolutely NO WAY that a base Camaro will be issued with a 500hp rating while the base Vette is still at 400hp. No way, period.
