Can't Decide: LS1 SS or WS6?
#62
The Camaro's front end looks too much like a chrysler sebring. It looks like a little sedated and it will just pass you buy. The hood scoop is one of the redeeming factors. If you look at the lines of a TA it is much more free flowing. It definitely says, "Look at me!" Go with what you can find in your area. In my part of MI, the camaros go for about blue book. The trans am are blue book and the WS6 are about 4k more. I didn't find any SS when I was looking. Definitely look into a firehawk. It has a nice smooth lines of the hood and ram air.

i gotta say the ws6, but then again i got one...
i heard the comparison here awhile back on how the front end of the camaro looks like a catfish, and i have to agree...
BUT, if i were to do it all over again i'd get a low option ls1 z28 in a split second. you end up paying alot extra just for the hood cleavage on a ws6.

I'll post a poll also so that I can get an idea of what car looks better to other f-body enthusiasts. I think the WS6 looks mean as hell but the SS can look pretty kick *** too with a chrome billet grille and some clear corner lenses. I also like the interior of the SS better as far as looks go. Buy a Z28 and spend the difference on mods - then when you want to see a slightly better looking car, you can just look into your rearview mirror! -peteZ
I totally agree with peteZ, buy a Z28 (the SS only has like 15 more hp, just add exhaust to the Z28 and there you have it), and spend the extra money on mods. After that, pull up to a "Kick your A" looking WS6 and blow its doors off. Performance before looks (though looks are a close second)

You're right about the cleavage!!!
If you're just going for looks, then a WS6 would do that for you very well. Where I live, I see SS's EVERYWHERE! But I only see a handfull of true WS6's.
Now if all out performance is the name of the game, then just get a striped down Z28. Then use the extra money for performance parts.
Personally I wanted the busty cleavage of the Ram Air hood AND performance. But I had to spend more! Of course, I bought mine in '02 brand new, then started the performance parts.

I ordered my car. I picked the Camaro SS and all GM and SLP options.
Drove it off the show room floor. My first new car. All $33,000 dollars worth.
I could have bought the Firehawk or a WS6. I picked the Camaro because it has a conservitive but fast look. For me being 34 years old "when I ordered it" the thought of growing old with my car I felt the TransAm WS6 was for someone younger than me. I love the TransAm from the front but the rear end...well looks wide in the hips and I don't like the honeycomb tail lights.
I never really cared for the dash and radio buttons/switches. Wife and I used to own a Grand AM and the Pontiac buttons look out of place in a car like the WS6. However...I love the seats! The Camaro has about the cheapest seats I have ever seen in a car. Anyways, I like the sleek/kick your *** look that I can grow old with. The TransAm looks like a car for teenagers....and has a Batmobile look to them. Plus the Camaro is a Chevrolet...they make Corvettes and SSR's and Pontiac makes...the Aztec?

I just purchased my SS, and i bought the SS for a reason, it seems to me that many a times if and when i see a WS6 it is a chick driving it(no offense to owners/or women drivers) what i mean to say is that it seems like a large group of people buy WS6s just becuase the looks of the car, which is cool it is an awesome car, however seeing an SS is rare and somehting about it just says that that person means business on the street/track.
That is how i have viewed it, always, and it is a liitle biased

Sunset Orange is also very nice, as is Pewter. Black is a bitch to keep nice, trust me after 4 yrs with this NBM it's tough but clean the color takes my breath away.
And my car still looks like that to this very day. Paint/shine wise but it's now on skinnies, fats on Welds and it's on the track just about every week. I said back in Nov when my Welds went on that I'd stick my 17" stockers back on........well, I am so used to the handling now and for $40 front tires......can't beat it. I will stick my stockers back on for a long road trip but around town I am okay with my skinnies on.

More chicks drive ws6!
I guess so! Both cars are sweet. Both have LS1. Get the car that you know that in 5 years you are still going to love! I find it that the WS6 is just more rare.
Before I got my car I had the same situation. When I saw an SS coming down the road it just did not grab my attention as much as the snarling nostrils and wide stance of the WS6. In terms of exterior styling the WS6 looks pretty exotic and sexy if you ask me.
All my buddys say that I made a wise choice. I love my WS6.
