If you'll look at some of the other posts on here, you will find that some cars are having problems at 30k-50k and some of these problems are not small. I'm just stating that SO FAR, I haven't had any problems and hope that I don't have any for a long while. Also, the last 20k on my car has been driven very hard. Last summer I went to the track every weekend for 3 months and made a minimum of 7-8 passes each week. And to show how hard I drive my car, I go through $10 of gas every day. Usually after that treatment, some minor things go wrong.

Just be aware of common problems

headlights
rear ends
transmissions
drive belts tensioners
window motors

oh and the common 'slap'

I had 140k on my old LS1, ran strong but i feel like it had lost a few hp's b/c of the miles but nothing major. standard parts needed to be replaced, nothing major though and no different then any other car with those miles.

I have a 98 Z28. I bought my car with 55K on it. It now has 82K. The only thing I've had to do is rebuild the rearend.

Weird.. my car has 90k miles. I have had major problems with mine.

-The factory lid broke. Had to order an aftermarket lid :/
-The intake manifold broke, had to get a LS6 intake manifold :/
-The clutch broke, so I had to get a Spec 3 :/
-The exhaust manifolds fell off somehow, so I had to replace those with long tubes :/
-The catback fell off with the manifolds .. so I had to get true duals :/
-Just recently.. the cam broke in half, so I had to replace that with a TR224. Along with some new valve springs and push rods :/

LS1's are not reliable. Parts that you wouldn't think of breaking, break. Well at least that is what I tell my girlfriend ..

one of mine is a 98 formy with 226,000 on the clock. Stock with the exception of a 150 shot, which has been heavily used for over 100k. It's been through a couple of rear ends, and clutches, but thats it.

I've Got A 99 Ls1 With 350k Miles On It. One Or Two Transmissions And A Rear Axle, Brake Rotors, Window Motors, and An Air Pump Have Been Replaced. Valvoline And Some Slick50 Did A Pretty Good Job!! It Still Runs 13.10 Every Time Down The Quarter. But I'm Collecting My Parts For The Rebuild/upgrade In The Near Future. Not Sure How Near But Wont Be Long

What about the cars with piston slap? Has anyone experienced any long term problems?

I wish I would have thought of telling my girlfriend my cam broke in half...maybe that would have worked for me!

But how do you explain that you need nitrous? "Honey, the factory forgot to install the nitrous, guess I gotta order a new kit!"
