insurance ?'s
So I am curious what kids from the age 18-20 range are paying per month for insurance.
Also how do you have your insurance set up? Parents plan and your daily driver...your own plan....etc??

Re: insurance ?'s
I just turned 20 last month, I have no tickets or accidents. Insurance is a killer. I am on a plan with both of my parents. I have my truck based in College Station since I am there most of the time. The Camaro is under my dads name as a pleasure vehicle. He has a company vehicle to drive around. My mom drives a '03 Mercury Marauder which is under her name on the insurance. I believe it runs us about 300 a month, and the way we have it set up is the cheapest way. No one in the family has any recent tickets or accidents. Thank God! Insurance is damn expensive!

Re: insurance ?'s
well.. I got my TA when I was 20...
never paid per month.. makes no sense, i always paid (and still do) every 6 months
when I was 16-19 for a 1987 Peugeot w/minimal coverage I paid 750 every 6 months
when I turned 20 and bought the TA then paid 800 every 6 months , 1987 Peugeot listed as my primary driver, minimal coverage, and a 2000 trans am listed as a recreational vehicle
Now I'm 22 pay 650 every 6 months, peugeot is still my listed primary driver, and TA is my rec vehicle.
About to buy a 2003 trailblazer (end of april) which will be in my name, and will require the TA be put in my name... it'll only be 1250 every 6 months (full coverage on 2 cars) ...

Re: insurance ?'s
I was 17 when I got my car and my payments come out to around $90 a month. I am on the same policy as my parents and only pay for my car's insurance as i don't drive anything else.
BTW, my insurance carrier is AAA. AAA

Re: insurance ?'s
Run all your deductibles at $1K.
The difference in premium cost is staggering. And, if you are concerned about coming up with $1K for a deductible, then take the difference in premium costs and stick it in a saving account and don't touch it.
I was amazed that after just saving the difference, I had my deductible met in 6 months. Now it's sitting in a saving account drawing about $.75 interest every 6 months. Sweet!
